Career Readiness can open the door to a better job or career.

Every step can be a passageway to new opportunities towards self-sufficiency.

  • Orientation – Those interested can call 515.282.8327 Ext. 220 to schedule an appointment to discuss career needs. One-on-one assistance is available with math and reading skills that support job readiness, cover letters, resumes, and job applications.
  • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) –  This is a free three-hour assessment where participants are awarded a certificate that is honored by more than 300 employers. This opportunity is available here at SVdP or at other partner organizations in the area.
  • Workforce Training Academy (WTA) – Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) offers up to 17 vocational training programs that are free to qualified applicants. Each one of these programs can lead to jobs in the Des Moines metro area. Programs include Certified Nurse Aid, Welding, Commercial Driver’s License, and Administrative Support, among others.
