The HiSET test is the successor to the GED test, but also consists of a series of five tests covering writing, science, math, reading and social studies. The tests require the test taker to apply reading, math, language and critical thinking skills. Tests are taken one at a time and in any order desired.
Passing the HiSet assessment allows students to earn their High School Equivalency diploma. The program is for anyone 17 years of age or older not enrolled in high school. The Des Moines Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul partners with Des Moines Area Community College to provide HiSET courses.
Please contact the education center director Andrew Gross about the next HiSET session.
