My name is Steve Havemann, and I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve as the Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul for several years. So much incredible work is going on, with such high levels of impact, it is inspiring to go to work every day!
It is the time of year where some of our most important and impactful work occurs. As the weather turns cold, the need for warmth, shelter, clothing, and food increases. We work to make the holidays happy for those less fortunate than ourselves.
While it seems early to gear-up for the holiday season, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is doing just that. During the months of November and December, we will experience our busiest time of the year.
Your donation to St. Vincent de Paul will:
- Serve over 1,200 children with toys through Operation Santa Claus
- Help more than 300 families have a Merry Christmas
- Provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to more than 500 individuals
Our goal this year is to raise $12,000 by November 15 to cover these critical expenses.
Please consider donating to St. Vincent de Paul to support our efforts. We will use 100% of your donation to provide direct service to those most in need in the Des Moines area. On behalf of those we serve and our volunteers and staff, THANK YOU for helping us move people towards self-sufficiency.

Monday, November 4 – Thanksgiving Basket Requests Due Please have all requests including numbers of families and individuals submitted to Mission Services.
Saturday, November 23 – 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Produce will available for conference pick-up in our 6th Avenue Warehouse.
Saturday, November 23 – 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. – Baskets will be distributed for families that have signed up through Mission Services.
Monday, December 2 – Christmas Basket Requests Due Please have all requests including numbers of families and individuals submitted to Mission Services.
Saturday, December 21 – 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Produce will be available for conference pick-up in our 6th Avenue Warehouse.
Saturday, December 21 – 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Baskets will be distributed for families signed up through Mission Services.
