Job Description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a new and exciting initiative at St. Vincent de Paul focused on increasing meaningful employment, qualification and skills of an identified small group of participants. The B2W Coordinator will work closely with the B2W Program Team to ensure the successful development, implementation and ongoing efforts of the B2W Program. The Program Coordinator must be adaptable, working directly with program participants and partners including: employers, funders and community-based organizations. The B2W Program Coordinator role is fast-paced and requires attention to details and multi-tasking ability to manage several tasks happening at the same time.

These services include the Education Center, emergency financial assistance, and comprehensive social services at both the Central and Southside locations.   • Work with the B2W Program Team to launch the program
  • Drive the recruitment and complete the enrollment of participants
  • Coordinate B2W Program training schedule, logistics and secure facilitators
  • Follow-up with participants to verify active participation and attendance
  • Ensure students’ progress in the program they choose to follow
  • Acquire knowledge of city, county and state resources available to assist program participants as needed
  • Effectively communicate with program participants and program partners
  • Collaborate and execute program-marketing strategies, including advertising and promotion of the B2W Program
  • Track and report program outcomes
  • Provide case management to program participants as they gain employment
  • Adapt program enrollment, curriculum and other processes as needed to meet participant and employer expectations
  • Document B2W program efforts, successes, challenges and points to consider for use in promoting program start-ups in new/other locations
  • Assist in building of a systematic infrastructure that will ensure the sustainability of the program
  • Represent St. Vincent de Paul Des Moines in public and at community meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in Education, Human Services or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Understanding and empathy while working with people from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Excellent people leadership capabilities including influencing others, developing relationships, and building a strong community network
  • Proven success in planning and implementation of new programming
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents
  • Ability to follow instructions, adhere to policy, and make basic decisions

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • 2-years’ experience in related field
  • Ability to problem-solve by developing innovative solutions

POSITION PROVISION

The Back2Work Program Coordinator position is currently a grant-funded role. Funding for the position has been secured for two years (Fiscal Years 2019 and 2020)
